Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Muse

Pucker up beauties you're in for one hell of a ride with this little number.

I have to admit I'm rather partial (read: half of my makeup is from there) to Hourglass. It has to be my favourite makeup brand I've discovered this year. High accolades indeed.

A LA based brand the products are designed to meet the oh-so-discerning needs of those Californian babes. 

I can't stop lapping up the lippie. Especially Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick.

They say: The proprietary blend of advanced polymers in this liquid lipstick delivers intense, vibrant color with exceptional longevity. Skin-conditioning emollients, antioxidant fruit extracts, cili fruit, goji berry, and vitamins A, C and E help to protect the lips throughout the day.

Sounds a bit fancy schmancy to me. One thing for sure it is richly pigmented and dramatically matte. One swipe and you're good to go. 

They claim that it lasts 14 hours of continuous wear without flaking or dryness. Here is wear it gets a bit sticky up in here (figuratively speaking, literally the texture is very balmy). Whilst it does work its little butt off you must, I repeat must apply to dry, 100% clean lips. There must be NO lip balm, Vaseline, Baume de Rose, you name it in a 5 mile radius of your lips. For the formula to really work its magic it needs to be adhering to naked lips, not a slip and slide. Whilst the Vitamin E does create a softer texture than your traditional matte lipsticks it is not the most forgiving to dry lips. Exfoliate the night before and lather on the balm and it won't act like a beacon to your chapped pout. Secondly, you must allow it a few minutes to dry before eating or drinking. I ignored my own cardinal rule on holiday and the lipstick was completely gone after dinner, leaving a not so attractive ombre effect.

Lecture aside if you follow the rules this little number will stay as long as you can play. I can't remember much about my birthday but I know my lipstick looked good! Gone are the days where you could tell which glass was mine by the bright coloured rim my lipstick left or whose boyfriend was mine by the territorial cheek print. Pros and Cons.

My personal favourite is the coral-red Muse. A very bright, traffic-stopping colour, it is less neon, and more wearable, than it's Femme Rouge counterpart. Whilst it looks scary in the tube, it really perks up your face, and looks ahhhmazing with a tan.

So pucker up, and kiss who you want, you won't be leaving a mark....not that I advocate that kind of thing....

Slightly more expensive than your drug store purchase, but you'll be reapplying a hell of a lot less- so it'll last a lot longer. Price Justified. Gotta love my beauty logic.

I never used to wear a lot of lipstick. I think having a bold lips demands attention, something which I didn't used to be all that comfortable with. However I have a bit of a growing obsession with them. I think they make you look so much more sophisticated and surely a bit of attention isn't a bad thing?!

Right now, along with pretty much everyone else out there, I am loving ANYTHING berry coloured 

I thought I would share with you my pick of the best lip colours for Autumn

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush £7.99

I love the texture of this, it glides on so easily and smells like peppermint. The colour payoff is intense and the texture is very forgiving to dry and chapped lips. I think balms are great for everyday use, they are simple to apply, the colour can be blotted down or built up, and they're not sticking so won't catch your hair like a venus fly trap.

Mac Rebel £14

Whilst I love the colour of this it is not a friend to dry winter lips, as you can see it is not casting my damaged lips in a favourable light! A good statement colour but make sure your lips and preened and perfect before appyling. As it is such an intense colour I pair mine with neutral makeup, adding some gold eyeliner if i'm feeling flash.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherry Blossom £7.49

I liked the texture of this, the brand claims that  this line seals in moisture and it did feel soft and comfortable on my lips. I think the pinky/red colour is really wearable on a lot of skin tones and makes your face look more alive.

Revlon Colorburst Plum £7.99

I think this colour is bang on trend this season, it gives a wine stained look to the lips, is easy to apply and lasts for ages. A ticker of all boxes!

Revlon Matte Lipstick in Va Va Violet £7.49

I really like the textures of all the revlon lipsticks. I was really drawn to the vampy hue of this lipstick but it is quite a difficult shade to wear, it can really drain the colour out of your skin and veer abit too far towards the vampire look.  But if you can pull this off it is a really unique and beautiful colour.

I've been noticing lately that lipstick colours turn out very differently on different people's lips so if you like the look of a colour I would definitely recommend trying it out on yourself before you purchase, especially if it is a high end product!

What are your favourite Autumn lipsticks? Does anyone have a good Oxblood one to recommend, I'm dying to find one!

Also, how do you all remove your lipsticks? I tend to use makeup wipes and whilst they work quite well at removing the colour the taste they leave behind is not pleasant!

Cherries in the snow

Revlon Cherries In The Snow has been a cult classic since the 50's and you can see why! 

I originally planned to get the lipstick but it seems to have disappeared from the shelves, I went to four different Boots and couldn't find it anywhere!

So I decided to pick up the nail varnish instead.

As you might of read I bought Revlons Bewitching last week. It is strange although Cherries In The Snow is obviously the same formula as Bewitching I found this one much easier to applier, in fact it was one of the easiest formulas I have ever used! It gives a really professional finish, and you really only need one coat, the colour pay off is amazing. It is dries to a glossy finish, whereas Bewitching is alot more matte, it also dries really quickly. 

The colour is vivid and elegant, a blue based dark fuschia shade of red. Its such a fun colour, and the perfect transitional colour from Summer to Autumn. Those deep dark days of Winter haven't quite set in yet so a pop of colour is still wearable! The berry undertone is a nod towards this season trend, and as it has been around for over 50 years already this is a colour that will not be going out of style anytime soon!
