Rant or Rave?

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

When it comes to painting my nails I'm not such a chip of the ole' block. My mothers obsessive base and top coat strokes of genius have not been passed onto me in the genetic lottery- hence why my nails, well, chip a lot.

Half-on, half-off nail varnish is not a good look. For anyone. Which is why Seche Vite Dry Fast is the top coat to top all others. I take my (top) hat off to it, I will never be without it again.

They Say it is specially formulated to penetrate through varnish to the base coat, forming a single solid coating over the nail plate for a much more durable finish.
Sounds like a bit of a mouthful to me. However their claims that it is resistant to chipping and peeling I can vouch for. I had a rather horrible experience with a certain Essie polish the other week. Sans top coat part of the polish peeled off into my eyeball when I was rubbing my eyes. It took the meaning of pink eye to a whole new level.

All I can say is, if you haven't got Seche Vite yet get your (probably chipped) hands on it now. A week later my varnish has only just started to chip, and I think that is more to do with my nails growing. My talons were coming up trumps compared to my mum and sisters manicured pair. It dries super quick, making me change my 'nails take all day to dry' belief (but don't tell my boyfriend- I'll still use 'but my nails are wet' as an excuse to not help wash up). It doesn't drag or streak the wet polish underneath, and dries down to a high gloss, could be mistaken for Shellac, finish.

What more could you ask for?

A week later, still going strong

A much needed lick of paint

Do you think Seche Vite have nailed the top coat polish?

How to....

The Vanishing Act

You put your right arm in, your right arm out, in, out, in out, shake it all about.

Sometimes taking nail varnish off can be a right pain in the a**. Those deep dark hues might make you go ohhh la la when you first apply, but when it comes to taking them off it's more like damn damn damn. No one wants to arm wrestle their polish off.

Bourjois Magic Nail polish works some mighty magic on your mitts.

(I have been wearing alot of nudes lately, but it does take off the whole spectrum of colours)

Inside the pot is what I am assuming a nail varnish remover soaked sponge.
You simply dip each finger into the sponge twist and remove.
BOOM
Your nail varnish has disappeared.
MAGIC

The stress is taken out of removing polishes, the pot is small and handy for travel, the smell isn't over whelming so you can remove nail varnish wherever takes your fancy, what else could you ask for?

For most nail varnishes you only need one dip and twist, however for those more stubborn glittery little numbers you do need to do a bit more of a jig against the sponge, but still it comes off much more willingly than with your traditional remover and cotton wool fare.

Bourjois magic nail polish remover is available for £4.99 from Boots

Have you experienced the magic yet? What do you think?

Polish Politics

Revlon Bewitching Nail Varnish Swatch

I have to admit although I may not be loyal to many beauty products I have had a long term committed relationship with my Barry M nail varnishes.
I have practically every colour they sell and for the past five years have not really branched out with my brands.
However five years is a loooooooooooooooong time for nail varnish, and I went to paint my nails the other day to find most of my colours dry, difficult to manage and gloopy!
Alas I thought this would be the perfect chance to indulge myself with some new colours!

I love Revlon lipsticks, I may dare to say more than Mac! So I thought they would be the perfect place to start my new collection. There array of colours is beautiful, but the one which really caught my eye was Bewitiching.

They Say: Revlon Nail Enamel gives up to 10 days of lasting colour and shine when worn with Revlon Base and Top Coat. Delivers gorgeously smooth, chip resistant colour to nails.

Bewitching is a dark red, bordeaux colour. It is simply gorgeous and a perfect Autumn colour. I feel very grown up and classy when I wear it.

It goes on opaque after one coat, so two or three coats are really needed to get the most out of the colour.

I found the finish quite matte, you really do need a top coat to achieve that shiny finish. And far from Revlon's claim of 10 days as you can see my varnish has only lasted 4 days before the chips started to appear (and I am wearing a top and bottom coat).

(Excuse the claw!)

Nevertheless, whilst the nail varnish didn't last it promised time what nail varnishes out there really do! Unless you do nothing but twiddle your thumbs your nails are going to chip!
I think the colour is something really speical, and for only £7.99 I will definitely be trying out other colours!

Revlon can be bought from Superdrug and Boots
Superdrug is having a 3 for 2 on all Revlon products at the moment and similarly Boots is running its 3 for 2 across various beauty buys!

What do you think? Need it or Leave it?
